I know, I know… Nikon users are now screaming “You Traitor†and Canon users are saying “Ah, so you have finally seen the light!†Truth is I started out as a Canon man in my film days but was blown away by Nikon’s CLS in the digital world. I never liked the ergonomics of a Canon… almost feels like the person that designed it had never held a camera before, Nikon has always felt comfortable in my hand, buttons exactly where they seem they should be.
What do I think now that I’m a Canon user? The same thing, LOL, but let us not forget, photography is a business, at least for me it is. If a Canon 5D Mark II (which is what i switched to) will give me better colors and higher resolution (21.1 MP vs Nikon D700’s 12.1MP) at a lower cost then having to upgrade to Nikons D3x, its an easy trade off I think.
Before you ask, I’ve sold all of my Nikon gear… bodies, lenses and flashes and purchased exactly what I need to continue to do business using my new Canon gear. After my first date with my new gear, I’m sure I made the right decision.
Do I recommend the switch for everyone. No. A camera is a tool! Who am I to tell a painter what brush to use, in the end does it matter? Its the images that matter. Its client satisfaction that matters. For me it was part business decision and part “no choiceâ€.
I got the same one for my birthday! I LOVE IT…
