Reminisce of Days Gone By… {Part I}

Last weekend, my family made lemonade out of a single lemon!

How you ask?  My wife, son, parents, sisters, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles were all planning on attending an event together to support a distant family member as they exchanged wedding vows.  Unfortunately, the Perigee moon allowed them to see things differently and things did not go as planned.  Nevertheless, family was coming to town and we were going to take advantage of this opportunity and God’s beautiful weather.

Friday night, we had a mini-mixer at my home… BBQ from Lawlers, spirits from the state store and chaser from the gas station!  What a combination!  We talked about our childhood and how wonderful it was.  We talked about how our parents could pack the car with Christmas gifts and luggage and could drive us all the way to grandma’s house without us even knowing the packages were with us!  I now know the secret and plan to carry that tradition!  We talked about Eastbrook… The cul-de-sac is what people call them now but growing up we called it a circle!  The spirits started to get the better of us so we called it a day and I couldn’t wait until Saturday for the continuation!

Saturday came and my parents had a cookout!  I just love cookouts, especially when all I have to do is show up, eat, and pull out my camera!  My uncles and aunts had arrived and got their grub on too!  Now the party is heatin’ up!  When my dad and his brothers and sisters get together, that’s when I get to learn about their days gone by!  It’s also funny to hear the different interpretations of the stories!

LOL!!!!

Anyway, here are a few photos that we took and I wanted to share them with the world because I think the world of my family!  My father told me a long time ago and I’ll always cherish these words… “If you don’t have family, you don’t have anything”.  If you have family and your relationships are not what you’d like, please do whatever it takes to repair it.  You only get one shot at this thing called life.

What will you reminisce of days gone by…

Anybody up for some karate?

I think I had to stop to get oxygen!

Part II tomorrow:  The Loves of my life… My wife Tina and my son Nicholas!
